GPSeismic Version 2011.3 Release Notes General 1) You can now quickly display a Google map for a specified point in one of three places: a) From the point information dialog in QuikLoad available when you right click on a point while holding down the Shift key, b) the popup menu of the display viewer, and c) on the conversion calculator dialog. 2) In the display viewer, when you edit selected cells, you can now perform math on string fields. However, any field whose contents is zero when converted to a value will not be affected. So given cell contents '1234' and 'CHK1', the former would be altered but the latter would not. 3) Also in the display viewer, when adding a record in edit mode, the appropriate index number to assign the new record is computed for you. This was requested by Jorg Schulz of DMT GmbH & Co. KG. 4) In the image registration utility, when saving the world file for a GIF file, the proper extension (gfw) is now used. Spotted by Brian Marsh. 5) Added ability to use the Find dialog in the display viewer if not in edit mode. 6) Added the ability to batch transform images and their world file. The new utility is located in the File menu of the Image Registration utility. Requested by Bill Crane of Extreme Surveys. 7) Added the ability to reduce the resolution of images by a factor of 2 in both width and height. This will result in the image taking just 25% the memory of the original. This utility will also re-create the associated world file for the reduced size image. Note that this is available in two forms, single file and batch mode, via the File menu of the Image Registration utility. Requested by Bill Crane of Extreme Surveys. 8) In the Coordinate System Selection dialog, pressing the button to view the details of the projection system will now show the False Eastings and Northings in local units. This same logic is applied in the ASCII Export dialog when creating a geodetic header. Requested by Jackie Portsmouth of Santos Inc. 9) Fixed a problem in combining polygon and line shape files that could potentially misnumber the record number of entities. This prevented QuikMap from rendering such a file. Spotted by Bernie Selinger of Paladin Positioning. 10) Three more Michigan TM projections were added to the Old Michigan group of the geodetic database. The additional East, Central and West projections have identical parameters to the existing three except for the referenced datum. The old projections reference the Nad27-Michigan datum (which reference the Clarke 1866 - Michigan ellipsoid and molodensky shifts) while the new reference the NAD27 datum (which reference the Clarke 1866 ellipsoid and NADCON). This was done as a result of the findings of several geodesists whose research centered on inconsistencies in published geodetic parameters for Michigan. Since EPSG still has online content where the referenced datum for these projection is Nad27-Michigan, the original projections were left in the database. As always, users should investigate the results of benchmark points to decide which datum to use. 11) Added a one-click edit option in the display viewer. If this new Preference menu item is checked and you are in the edit mode, clicking into a cell automatically puts you in edit mode, otherwise, it takes a double-click to do the same. Requested by Chris Drummond of Cook Leach Surveys. QuikMap 1) Results from calculations appearing in the Concise Report of the CoGo utility can now be added as Secondary points. Requested by Brian Marsh. 2) The Microsoft Research Map utility had to be modified to compensate for a change to that service in which tiles were identified. This modification prevents a problem in which tiles in UTM zones less than 10 could not be transformed to the user's selected system. Spotted by Peter Hall of Katy Geophysical. 3) There is a new option to add or subtract one DEM to/from another. This can be useful to adjust a regional geoid model with the results from local control. Requested by BGP. QuikLoad 1) When creating staggered lines from the 2D Pattern builder, you could not proceed if you entered a negative increment. Fixed this. 2) Added options to upload grid coordinates and to suspend the loading of geodetic parameters to a data collector file. These options are typically only useful when planning to perform and use field calibrations. You can find these options in the Display/Output page of the Miscellaneous dialog. Requested by Gary Schaffer of Teocali Navigation. 3) Added a Google map preview when the Station Data dialog is in modal form and showing geographic coordinates. QuikView 1) When using a field calibration in Trimble data collectors, if a valid calibration exists in the job, you will be prompted to save it for use with another job. If a valid calibration does not exist, you can retrieve a previously saved one. Requested by Gary Schaffer of Teocali Navigation. 2) The Offsets dialog is now available even if a data collector is not open. 3) The Station Data dialog in its modal form now shows the coordinates as Easting/Northing. Previously it was shown as Northing/Easting. Spotted by Brian Marsh. QuikEdit 1) Fixed the keyboard macro logic for Vista and Windows 7 and added multiple macro support with save and retrieve facilities. Spotted by Dave Cook of Cook Leach Surveys. GPSQL 1) Added query numbers to the query names displayed on the dialog for all two-query utilities. Requested by Brian Marsh. 2) Added code to Excel import to ignore any special formatting in Excel XSX files. Fixed a problem in retrieving field names from an XLF file in which an extra blank field was being added. Added a better description of errors that might be encountered when importing Excel data. This includes a dialog that will display what might be wrong with your field descriptions (such as no field name, string length too long, or no field type selected) and a pointer to the exact row, what if any errors there were in placing records in the cache including the offending row and fields, and a summary of errors encountered, if any, when the records were added to the database. This summary includes row number and field. These changes resulted from great feedback from Jorg Schulz of DMT GmbH & Co. KG 3) The Duplicate Manager is now map based. You can display a background registered raster image and you now have full control over the depiction of duplicate points, templates, links and sweeps. A video displaying the differences is available here: http://www.gpseismic.com/download/videos/duplicate_manager_differences.wmv Requested by Brian Marsh 3) The Purge Duplicates function can delete or move duplicate records based on whether three selected fields are identical. A third option has been added, that being to renumber the Station (Value) field of all duplicates. Requested by Dave Jones of Santos, Inc. 4) Added Source Information System (SIT) vibe import routines to GPSQL. This includes single file and batch file import. Requested by Shi Guanjun of BGP Project Manager 1) Added buttons to the display viewer on the main dialog that will display the project log file, summarize the number of records for each table in the selected project database, and display a summary of the contents of the geodetic parameters file for the project. 2) The column ordering preferences were not being saved and retrieved when switching projects. Corrected this. GPArc 1) GPArc has now been compiled and tested with ArcGis 10 Service Pack 3. 2) Fixed a problem when initializing the page layout control. The page layout would not be completely visible. Spotted by Peter Hall of Katy Geophysical. GPNav 1) The current date/time is now stored in the GPNav log file as a serial time. This is the 34th delimited item in the log file. The date/time continues to be logged as a string (as the 2nd delimited item). In GPSQL, if a log record contains 34 delimited items, the survey date/time field is populated based on the conversion of the GPS Serial time. If it is an earlier version of GPNav log file, the 2nd delimited field is converted. The latter conversion can fail if the logging computer has different regional date/time settings then the computer used for import. However, the serial time conversion avoids that problem. Spotted by Thedda Hanssler of DMT GmbH & Co. KG. GPLocator 1) Added Registration Utility to this application. GPMonitor 1) Added an option to suspend all graph updating. This might prove useful if GPMonitor is unmanned and all you are interested in is logging. Also modified application to allow conversion of current log file to a database, even if logging. Requested by Jan Quaak of CGGVeritas.
