GPSeismic Version 2009.1 Release Notes General 1) The Google Maps dialog now includes an option for determining the highest resolution available in an area. If used the option requests a tile for the center of the area for each of 8 zoom levels. Each tile is analyzed and if predominantly black (meaning no imagery is available), a zoom level indicator turns red otherwise it turns green. It gives a clear indication of what resolution is available in the area so you don't have to experiment. Note that the map type actually dictates what's available. For example all resolutions might be available in an area for a road map but not for a shaded terrain type. The Google Maps dialog now has a checkbox that makes sure undesirable entities are not repeated unnecessarily. The checkbox is labeled 'use Occam's razor' which generally means to create the simplest image possible. 2) Project Manager and GPMonitor now both have a satellite prediction utility. The utility can produce charts and graphs depicting GPS and Glonass visibility. DOP, number of satellites, elevation and azimuth versus time are all provided. A special Google Earth KML file can be created to present a unique 3D perspective of the satellites with respect to time. The utility can use the GPS almanac data from the US Coast Guard web site (Yuma format)or the GPS/Glonass almanac data provided by Trimble. Links to both sites are on the utility dialog. The utility is simple to use and can assist in operational planning. 3) The modern spreadsheet viewer has changed in two ways. When using the 'Change Field' utility, it is now possible to enter nothing. Note that this will remove the contents of the field but in the case of some field types such as date/time, the routine will report that it cannot perform the action. The second change is default action for pressing the Delete key is now to remove the contents of the field. The default action before was to remove all rows that were highlighted. You can still revert to the previous row deleting default action by checking a new preference menu item. QuikView 1) Added another Specific ASCII format to extract the stakeout coordinates from a TDS Recon 'raw' conventional file. The SP points and optionally, OC points will be extracted. Also added various options to the Vibe Tablet format so baselines can be computed. 2) If you GPS system supports HI slope values in the data collector file, QuikView will populate a field called 'HI (slope)' if it exists in the Postplot table of the database. Remember that you can create fields such as this when you create a project. Requested by Glyn Barnes of WesternGeco QuikMap 1) When you create an Garmin IMG file from a vector file, a new dialog allows you to not only to choose the desired vector file entities but also a ASCII coordinate file. If you elect to use this option, you are prompted for the file to include followed by the standard GPSeismic ASCII Import Specifications dialog. On this new dialog you can now create or append a Polish (MP) file, convert an MP file to an IMG, upload an IMG, or pretty much do anything you need to do to get the exact file you want. You can still display the IMG Parameters dialog, but the point, line and polygon symbols can be selected from this dialog as well so as you add more files to the MP file, you can select what is most applicable. There is also a new Image menu item that allows you to select an IMG file to upload. These features were requested by Jan Quaak of CGGVeritas and Glyn Barnes of WesternGeco 2) If QuikMap senses a x64 operating system, it will utilize up to 4GB of available memory. On 32 bit systems, it will use up to 2GB. 3) When tiling a DEM, you can now save or print the image of the DEM showing the tile distribution. This was requested by Tim Green of Destiny 4) When defining a sub-tile of a DEM graphically, you are now provided a colored DEM representation and a full complement of image viewing tools. 5) Added ability to translate world registration files. GPSQL 1) The Table menu item 'Insert Group By Expression' has been renamed 'Build Group By Expression'. You now build a Group By query. You start by selecting one or more fields that will be in the Group By expression. Once you select the menu item, a dialog will be displayed which allows you to graphically select and order the fields you want to be in the expression. You can also elect to append a Where clause from another existing query and select the query index to write to. This was requested by Lance Perrier of Destiny. 2) Added the ability to save and retrieve the import configurations you define in the ASCII Import dialog. This was requested by Michael Schlautltmann of DMT 3) Added SPS file import capability. This includes the complete format including point codes, water and surface depths. 4) The GPS View import now imports V, A, and F records. For F and A, it places 255 in the vibe ID and sweep fields. It places 'Average' in the Descriptor field for A records and 'Final' in the Descriptor of F records. Requested by Bill Crane of GeoKinetics QuikCon 1) Added ability for the user to define a set of main spreadsheet display columns. This was requested by Jan Quaak of CGGVeritas 2) Added an import routine for the South NTS-360R Total Station. This was requested by Mel Meeds of Quest Geophysical Asia. GPLocator 1) Added ability to use the $GPGWPL message. this message lacks time so the computer time is use to tag each received record. Requested by Jan Quaak of CGGVeritas. QNAV 1) This freeware vehicle navigation program has been modified to include several tool buttons in the status panel. One button starts tracking and another stops it. There are two buttons which control zoom. One zooms in with each click and the other zooms out. There is also a tool button that toggles the nav panel display. Finally, there is a label at the far right of the status panel which either displays 'data' when tracking and a valid position has been received from comms or '----' otherwise.
